Meet your facilitator

Hi! I'm Lanie and I'll be your facilitator. I'm passionate about sharing painting as a tool in self-discovery, mindfulness, and creative expression. Approaching art as a process for yourself and not as a product for others' approval can bring up a lot of opportunities for self-reflection. I support participants to explore complex feelings as they arise with compassion, openness, and no judgment.

Growing up I was always considered the "artist". I even went to university and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. But after University I felt very creatively blocked. I never felt my work was good enough and wasn't worthy of the "artist" label, so I stopped doing a lot of artwork that I was craving to do. Finally I went to a painting retreat and without knowing what I was heading in to, I discovered Process Arts. Finally someone was telling me that art isn't about the end product but about your own personal experience creating art. The lessons that I learned and continued to explore about Process vs. Product art shattered what I'd spent years thinking "art" was. Now I want to help other people discover art as a tool for creative expression, self-exploration, and mindfulness.

Workshops and classes are currently based in Toronto, ON.
